Manufactured in the USA, Powerwall 3AC is designed for fast installation, flexible system design and reliable backup operation. Classified as an Energy Storage System, it provides greater design flexibility for homes with existing solar, new AC-coupled solar systems, or customers looking to add battery storage without replacing their current inverter.

Purpose-built for standalone storage or AC-coupled solar configurations, Powerwall 3AC integrates easily with new or existing solar systems without requiring DC-coupled solar input.

Energy Storage System Classification

With a 5kW maximum output and no DC-coupled solar inverter, Powerwall 3AC is classified as an ESS, supporting greater inverter capacity flexibility in suitable system designs.

Reliable Home Backup

13.5kWh of usable AC battery energy and 5kW continuous AC output help keep essential household loads powered during outages, with support for both whole-home and partial-home backup configurations.

Automatic Backup Control

Backup Gateway 2 provides energy management, monitoring and backup operation. It detects grid outages, controls connection to the grid and enables Powerwall 3AC to provide backup power when required.

Modular Expansion Capability

Start with 13.5kWh of storage and expand using Powerwall 3 Expansion units. A Powerwall 3AC can be configured with up to three expansion units for up to 54kWh of storage, with system designs supporting up to four Powerwall 3AC units and up to seven total units where permitted.

Built for Australian Conditions

Powerwall 3AC is indoor and outdoor rated, with an operating temperature range of -20°C to 50°C. The battery and power electronics are IP67 rated, with an IP55 enclosure and wiring compartment protection, making it suitable for a wide range of Australian environments.

The Tesla App provides real-time monitoring and control, including solar self-consumption, time-based control and backup reserve management to help households get more from their stored energy.
